End: The Forever Enigma of Time
It runs contrary to one’s perception of reality because it raises more questions than it actually answers. On the scientific plane, it is impossible simply because time is an integral element of a universe. Philosophically, it gives rise to paradoxes that leave one wondering if the very idea of “stopping” time makes sense at all. On the psychological level, it puts us face to face with how much we require a flow of time for meaning, purpose, and identity.
Even though we cannot freeze or run the reel of time backward, our wish says much: We want to get every ounce out of every moment. Time goes on. And so should we—with all the trials and triumphs of life. So, rather than wanting time to go backwards, let’s enjoy the passage. For it is only with movement that time equates to a life worth living.
